The Welsh Parliament (Senedd) and its members
Study note
The Welsh Parliament is called the Senedd, and it meets in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. Its members are now known as Members of the Senedd, shortened to MSs. They are not called MSPs, which is the Scottish title, or MLAs, which is the Northern Ireland title.
Members of the Senedd are elected using a form of proportional representation, like the other devolved bodies. The Senedd can make decisions on devolved matters in Wales, such as health and education. The number of members has changed since the older 2013 handbook, so it is safest to learn the name of the body, its home in Cardiff, and the title MSs, rather than rely on the old figure of 60. For the test, link the Senedd with Cardiff, with members called MSs, elected by proportional representation.
Memory tip: Welsh Parliament = the Senedd in Cardiff; members are MSs, elected by proportional representation.
