Religion and beliefs in the UK
Study note
The UK is a country with a wide range of religious beliefs. National surveys of belief have found that Christianity is the largest religion, with most religious people describing themselves as Christian. This reflects the country's long Christian history.
Besides Christianity, significant numbers of people in the UK follow Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism or Buddhism, so several major world faiths are represented. At the same time, a large share of people say they have no religion at all. The main points to remember are that Christianity is the largest faith and that Islam and Hinduism are among the other religions practised in the UK.
Memory tip: Christianity is largest; many other faiths too; a large share have no religion.
