Britain has had many influential architects. In the 17th century, Inigo Jones drew on the classical style of ancient Greece and Rome. He designed the Queen's House at Greenwich and the Banqueting House in Whitehall, both of which still stand today.
In the 18th century, the Scottish architect Robert Adam had a wide influence on architecture in the UK, Europe and America. His ideas helped to inspire elegant buildings such as the Royal Crescent in the city of Bath.
