The small claims procedure
Study note
The small claims procedure is an informal way of settling minor civil disputes without spending a lot of money on a lawyer. The hearing is held in front of a judge in an ordinary room, with both sides sitting around a table. It is used for lower-value claims, for example through the County Court in England and Wales.
