Rudyard Kipling was a British writer who was born in India during the time of the British Empire. His writing often reflected his views of the Empire, which he saw as a force for good. He became a very successful and popular author and won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Kipling is best remembered today for works such as The Jungle Book, the Just So Stories, and the famous poem 'If'. The Jungle Book is the title most often linked with him, rather than Oliver Twist, Treasure Island or Harry Potter, which were written by other authors. So remember Rudyard Kipling as the writer of The Jungle Book and the poem 'If', and as a winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
