Britain and the British Isles
Study note
The words "Britain", "British Isles" and "British" are used loosely to refer to everyone in the UK, so they cover a wider group than "Great Britain". "Great Britain" is the precise term for just England, Scotland and Wales. Knowing the difference between Great Britain, the British Isles and Britain is a common test point.
Memory tip: Great Britain = three nations only; Britain and British Isles are looser, wider terms.
